The Purpose of Marriage

            Islam is fitrah religion. It’s mean Islam is one religion which suitable with human fitrah. In Islam, of course we know about fitrah as life creatures, those are the life potentials like the life neccessity and some instincts which can’t be lost. Those instincts are : first, purifying something instinct (Gharizah Tadayyun), second, perpetuating gender instinct  (Gharizah Nau’), third, defending self instinct (Gharizah Baqa’).

            We as human was given the magnificence by Allah SWT with intelligence that we have. So, properly we can distribute human fitrah and it’s instincts with true method. Islam has many true doctrines about the method how to distribute that fitrah, especially for perpetuating gender instinct. One method to fulfill this second human neccessity is with the marriage way.

            In view of Islam, the marriage has clear noble purposes, it is not nothing other than personality affair. And among these marriage purposes are :

     To fulfill the basic demand human instinct

Human was provided with natural desire to get in touch with  opponent gender. And it is the basic human instinct. Then, legally method to fulfill this neccessity is with marriage contract. And it is not with bad method, as like as the people do in this modern era. It is like be engaged with their opposite gender, living together out of matrimony, performing prostitution, engaging in illicit sex, and etc which deviated and forbided in Islam.

In fact, the human was created by Allah SWT in pairs between boy and girl, man and woman since Prophet Adam and Siti Hawa period. Beside that, the human has desire to complete, to share and to fulfill each other towards their life couple. The solitude is one problem that lost balance in our life. Everyone want to share in their life, getting an affection, and distributing their affections to their life couple. And the cleverest method to distribute that affection is with legally marriage according to syariah of Islam. With marriage, we would be avoided from engaging in illicit sex which is deviated by god Allah SWT. So, marry some girl as possible as you can, but if you can’t, marrying one wife is enough.

     To fortify the glorious attitude and conquering view

The main objective which was declared marriage in Islam is to fortify human from despicable and dirty deed, as the phenomenon that has done in circle of our society now which can lower and broken the glorious human grade like an abortion in circle of senior high school students and university student, a pregnancy out of marriage, and etc. Islam views marriage and establishment family as one of effective means to keep the teenagers from the broken and protect the society from the confusion. Rasulullah SAW has ordered to his members who is able to marry in order to accelerate marriage implementation. And he has explained that is more conquering view and fortifying genitals. And for the people who can’t be able to implement it, he ordered to them to observe the fasting. Cause, it can fortify themselves from dirty deed.

     To build Islamic household

The glorious purpose from marriage is in order husband and wife doing the syariat of Islam in their household. The law was maintained household in according to syariat of Islam is duty. Because, every muslim and muslimah who want build Islamic household, the Islam doctrine has given some criteria about the ideal couple candidate. Both are, must be kafa’ah and sholihah.

The household which was builded on the legally marriage foundation is hoped will become the harmonious happiness peace Islamic family. That family become the first foundation to be formed the harmonious happiness peace Islamic society. Because, the family like the smallest organization of society. That society, will become the society will make our leader Rasulullah SAW proud.

Islam also views that is forming family as one way to realize the big purposes that covered various civilization aspect according to Islamic religion that will have basic and big influence for muslim people and existention of muslim civilization.

     To increase worship to Allah SWT

According to Islam’s concept, our life is fully for worship and serve to Allah SWT, along with doing the good deeds to other human. From this view, the household is one of fertile soil for doing worship, and good deed beside other good deed and worship. Although Rasulullah SAW has explained that to be in contact between husband and wife or release orgasm to our wife was included worship.

Marriage is the whole part from worship, although it called as the part of religion. Marriage is not only as self promoting for fairness in civilization life, although it become means to fulfill someone religious in order his worship more strong than before.

     To obtain pious descent

The glorious purpose from marriage is to get descent. All people has preference and happiness feeling to children. Although Rasulullah has suggested in order to marrying full affection woman along with can bear many descent. With having descent, it will give a way for continuation human generation on the earth. Human will be saved and never extinct.

Of course, the pious descent can’t be obtained rather with the real Islamic education. We call it, because many of “Islamic Education Institute”, but their method and contents is not Islamic. Until we can see many of muslim children who haven’t Islamic moral, caused the wrong education. So, husband and wife have responsibility to educate, teach, and direct their children to the right way.

The child is hereafter investment. And he is not nothing other than the world happiness. With having the pious children, they will give the opportunity to their parents to get the paradise in hereafter.
